Our Changing Times: Bathing Suit Edition

In 1907, Annette Kellerman was arrested for indecent exposure for wearing a shocking one-piece bathing suit that revealed her arms and legs. While bathing suit fashion has changed, from nude to near-burqa, it wasn't that long ago that a glimpse of stocking was looked on as simply shocking.

Now comes the latest ruling: You have to bare parts of your body in competition. Fina cracks down on hi-tech suits: "But following a three-day meeting in Dubai, Fina has stipulated swimsuits should not cover the neck and must not extend past the shoulders and ankles."

In yet another spin-off of the Space Program, the Speedo Fastskin LZR Racer swim suits have rewritten the record books, accounting for 94% of the golds and breaking 23 of the 25 records at the Beijing Olympics.

Alex Rodriquez claims he only wore the suit during the 2003 season.

Thanks, I'm still fine

Thanks to everyone who wished me well after yesterday's gunshots. I went home, read for a bit, puttered about, watched some Astro Boy, tried to watch SNL and drifted off to sleep.

Now, I'm going to treat myself to a big breakfast (really a brunch by now), do some writing and slide down the day until Trivia this evening. I'll have a good story...
