Minneapolis Music

A while ago, skjam requested a CD for his Upcoming Fiftieth Birthday. His fairly generic request included "Mix CDs! .... a good local band, I'd like at least one track to be from a homegrown musician".

I cheated a little, as several of these cuts are from people who are no longer local, and included a couple of Shockwave Radio cuts, but I think this fulfills his desires:

The Road ––Nate Bucklin 4:55
The Worms Don't Hear – The Auto Body Experience 4:06
Cuz Mapfumo – Boiled In Lead 4:53
The Leaving Of Jamie Raeburn – The Tim Malloys 3:36
Yeti – Flash Girls 2:53
The Possible Dream 2004 – Shockwave Radio Theater 3:04
Fields of Athenry – The Dregs 3:29
Pomegranate – Beth Kinderman and the Player Characters 5:13
The Wood-Tick Song – Rich Lindell W/ Roady Tate And Joe McDonald 3:18
Home – Riverfolk 3:04
We Kept On Dancing – Nate Bucklin 3:16
The Reincarnation Song – Howard Harrison 4:08
Hands Across Anoka – Shockwave Radio Theater 5:35
Stream of Consciousness Blues – Steve Brust 1:36
A Member of the Rabble – Riverfolk 2:48
Linin' Track – "Spider" John Koerner, Dave "Snaker" Ray And Tony "Little Sun" Glover 2:20
Who Is The Doctor? – The Nick Atoms 3:00
Another Song – Feng Shui Ninjas 2:55
Dinosaur's Dream – Howard Ashby Kranz 3:41
Skewbald – Lehto & Wright 4:37
Long Black Veil – Reve Du Faun 3:30
Parting Glass – The Dregs 2:41

Meanwhile, Netroots Nation is a big political convention coming to Mpls June 16-19, and some people are already here. I intend to go to the Convention Center today, just to register and see who's around. I've been writing Netroots Nations Prequels about nearby restaurants and things to do in Minneapolis in as Daily Kos diaries.

So all of a sudden, I have an intro to Minneapolis already built. Now, I'm making the CD label, using the Foshay Tower as backdrop.
